Westford, MA · Licensed electricians since 2009
Panel upgrades, EV chargers, generators, old wiring, or the flicker nobody else could track down. Ryan Gath Electric is a locally owned crew of licensed electricians working across Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and southern Maine, and we fix it right the first time.
Electrician in Westford & Newton, MA
Most people call an electrician about one thing: a breaker that won’t reset, a charger for the new car, a generator before winter. We handle that one thing properly, and while we’re there we look at the whole system around it, because in New England houses the real problem is usually one step upstream of the symptom.
Ryan Gath started the company in Westford in 2009. Since then the crew has done work for thousands of homeowners, businesses, property managers, landlords and contractors, and earned a spot as a HomeAdvisor top-rated member. Every job starts with a free estimate, bigger projects can be financed, and the work is backed by our warranty.

Panel upgrades
Plenty of older homes around here still run on fuse boxes or undersized 60- and 100-amp panels. They were fine when the biggest load in the house was a toaster. Add a heat pump, an induction range and an EV, and they run out of room fast. We size the new service with a proper load calculation, pull the permit, coordinate the utility disconnect, and leave you a panel with every circuit dressed, torqued and labeled.

How a job goes
From the first phone call to the final walkthrough, you know what’s happening, why it matters and what it costs.
How we workFirst
Call and you’ll reach someone who can put you on the schedule. Urgent problems move to the front of the line; everything else gets booked around your week.
Next
We look at the job, ask what you’re trying to get done, and put the price and scope in writing before any work starts. Financing is available on bigger projects.
Finally
We fix the cause, not the symptom. Work is permitted and inspected where your town requires it, the site gets cleaned up, and the job is backed by our warranty.

Clean runs, straight lines, no surprises.
Who we work for
Homeowners, businesses, property managers, landlords and contractors, and plenty of our HVAC work comes through contractors who need a dependable electrician on call.

A breaker that won’t stay on. A 100-amp panel that can’t take a heat pump. A 1920s colonial still running on knob and tube. We handle the whole range of residential work, protect your floors, explain what we found in plain English, and clean up before we leave.

Builders and HVAC companies bring us in for the electrical side: dedicated circuits for condensers and air handlers, service upgrades ahead of a heat pump install, rough-in and finish on remodels. We show up on the day we said, and we coordinate inspections so your job keeps moving.

Tenant calls, turnover work, smoke and CO detector compliance, exterior lighting and hallway fixtures. Property managers and landlords use us so one phone number covers every address in the portfolio, with clear invoices for each unit.

Salons, studios, retail shops and offices. We wire fit-outs, light storefronts and signs, retrofit old fluorescent fixtures to LED and add circuits for new equipment, scheduling the noisy work around your business hours where we can.

“He was on time. He was knowledgable and explained everything very well. He was friendly, helpful and efficient. He finished everything in one day even though he had to go and get a part, which he did very quickly. I was very pleased.”

Local knowledge
01Plenty of homes in towns like Lowell, Cambridge and Newton still have knob-and-tube or cloth-covered wire behind the plaster. It has no ground, wasn’t built for modern loads, and becomes a fire risk when it gets buried in insulation. We trace what’s left, tell you honestly how much of it is live, and replace it with as little damage to your walls as we can manage.
Knob & tube replacement
02When a storm drops trees on the lines, some streets wait days for power. A standby generator with an automatic transfer switch keeps the heat, well pump and fridge running without you lifting a finger. A portable generator with a proper interlock is the budget route. Either way: no extension cords through the window and no backfeeding the grid.
Generator services
03A lot of households are trading oil for heat pumps and adding an EV to the driveway. Both are big, long-running loads. Before anything goes in, we run a load calculation on your existing service so you know whether it can carry them or whether it’s time for a panel upgrade.
