Electrical Installation

Adding power the right way.

Houses rarely stay the way they were built. You finish the basement, add a mini-split, put a freezer in the garage, build a home office, or finally want an outlet on the deck. Each of those needs power, and the shortcut of tapping into whatever circuit is closest is how overloaded circuits and nuisance trips start.

We plan installations from the panel out: which new circuits you need, what size, where they’ll run and what protection each one requires. Then we install them cleanly, with boxes where boxes belong and cable secured and protected, not draped across the basement ceiling.

Installation work ranges from a single dedicated circuit for a microwave to wiring a whole basement suite. Whatever the size, it’s permitted, inspected where required, and backed by our warranty.

“Ryan Gath Electric helped us install a 220 line from our house to patio to hook up a pool heater. Ryan came to our house for a quote and was respectful of our needs. He genuinely cared about making sure we were getting the best value.”

Signs to watch for

Common installation projects.

  • 01

    Dedicated appliance circuits

Microwaves, dishwashers, disposals, freezers and wine fridges often need their own circuits to run without tripping.

  • 02

    Garage and workshop power

More outlets, 240-volt circuits for tools or compressors, and better lighting for the space.

  • 03

    Outdoor outlets and power

Weather-resistant GFCI outlets for decks, patios, holiday lighting and yard tools.

  • 04

    Finished basements and additions

Full circuit layouts for new living space, including lighting, outlets and smoke detection.

  • 05

    Home offices

Enough outlets in the right places, dedicated circuits for equipment, and lighting you can work under.

  • 06

    Mini-splits and equipment

Circuits and disconnects for HVAC equipment, water heaters, well pumps and more.

Good to know

Good to know before adding circuits.

Think a few years ahead. If a finished basement, a hot tub or an EV might be on the horizon, tell us now. Running an extra circuit or leaving panel space while the walls are open or the panel cover is off is far cheaper than coming back later.

Outdoor and garage outlets need specific protection. Outdoor receptacles call for GFCI protection and weather-resistant, in-use covers that stay closed with a cord plugged in. Garage outlets usually need GFCI protection too. We install the right devices for each location so they pass inspection and stay safe.

Appliance instructions matter. Many large appliances list their circuit requirements in the installation manual, and inspectors check against them. Keep the manual handy or send us the model number and we’ll confirm the circuit before install day.

Why it matters

Done once, done right.

A properly planned circuit runs for decades without you thinking about it. A tapped-in shortcut trips at the worst moments and can overheat. Getting it right the first time is always cheaper than fixing it later.

Clean installs also matter for resale. Permitted work with tidy runs and labeled breakers tells a buyer’s inspector the house was cared for.

Electrical Installation FAQ

Questions we get about this work

Do I need a new circuit for my appliance?

Many large appliances call for a dedicated circuit, and the manufacturer’s instructions usually say so. We’ll check the requirements and your existing wiring.

Can you add outlets without opening walls?

Often, yes, by fishing cable from the basement or attic. Where some opening is needed, we keep it small.

Is there room in my panel?

We check during the estimate. If it’s full, we’ll explain the options, from rearranging circuits to a panel upgrade.

Do you install fixtures I bought?

Yes. Let us know what you have and we’ll confirm it’s suitable for the location and box.
