Ring Cameras

See who’s there from anywhere.

Ring’s video doorbells and cameras connect to your home Wi-Fi and the Ring app, so you can see and talk to whoever is at the door, get alerts when there’s motion, and check the driveway from anywhere. They’re popular for good reason. The installation, though, is where a lot of DIY setups disappoint.

Battery units need charging at the worst times. Hardwired units need the right power: doorbells rely on a compatible doorbell transformer, and floodlight cams replace an existing exterior light on a properly mounted box. Shingle and clapboard siding, brick, and stucco each need their own mounting approach to stay weather-tight.

We install and service Ring video doorbells, floodlight cams and stick-up cams, replace undersized doorbell transformers, add exterior boxes and power where there isn’t any, and aim cameras so they cover what matters without filming your neighbor’s living room.

“He was on time. He was knowledgable and explained everything very well. He was friendly, helpful and efficient. He finished everything in one day even though he had to go and get a part, which he did very quickly. I was very pleased.”

Signs to watch for

Common Ring jobs.

    Video doorbell install

Hardwired to a compatible transformer so it charges and chimes properly.

  • 02

    Floodlight cam replacement

Swapping an old flood for a camera-light on a sound, weather-tight box.

  • 03

    New camera locations

Adding power and a box where you want a camera but there’s no fixture.

  • 04

    Doorbell that keeps rebooting

Usually an underpowered transformer. We replace it with the right one.

    Siding and masonry mounts

Mounting blocks and sealed penetrations for shingles, clapboard, brick and stucco.

  • 06

    Repairs and service

We diagnose and fix wiring problems with existing Ring devices.

What the job involves

How we install Ring devices.

  1. 1

    Walk the property

We decide camera locations for coverage and check Wi-Fi strength where they’ll mount.

  2. 2

    Check power

Doorbell transformer size, existing exterior boxes and circuits.

  3. 3

    Mount and wire

Weather-tight mounting, clean wiring, and transformer upgrades if needed.

  4. 4

    Connect and configure

We help connect devices to your Wi-Fi and the Ring app.

  5. 5

    Aim and test

Adjust angles and motion zones, and test alerts and chimes.

Good to know

Good to know before you mount cameras.

Check your Wi-Fi where the camera will go. Exterior walls, brick and long distances from the router weaken the signal, and a camera with a poor connection misses events and drains batteries. We check signal strength at each location and can recommend where a mesh node or extender would help.

Think about what each camera needs to see. The front door, the driveway and side entrances are the usual priorities. Aim for faces and approach paths rather than broad views of the street, and adjust motion zones so passing cars don’t flood your phone with alerts.

Respect your neighbors. Point cameras at your own property, set privacy zones where views overlap a neighbor’s windows or yard, and check local rules if you’re in a condo or association. It keeps everyone comfortable and avoids disputes.

Power beats batteries. Hardwired doorbells and floodlight cams never need a charging trip up a ladder in January. Where there’s no nearby power, we can often add a box on an existing exterior circuit.

Why it matters

Security that actually works.

A camera is only useful if it’s powered, connected and pointed at the right thing. Hardwired installs avoid dead batteries, and proper mounting keeps water out of your siding and wiring.

Visible cameras and doorbells are also a deterrent in their own right, and floodlight cams add light where you need it most.

Ring Cameras FAQ

Questions we get about this work

Can you install a Ring doorbell where I have an old doorbell?

Yes. We check the existing transformer and chime, and upgrade the transformer if it can’t power the doorbell reliably.

Can a floodlight cam go where there’s no light now?

Yes. We can add an exterior box and power from a nearby circuit.

Do you repair Ring devices?

We diagnose and fix wiring and power problems with Ring devices. Hardware failures inside the unit go through Ring’s warranty.

Will you set up the app?

We help connect devices to your Wi-Fi and the Ring app so everything works before we leave.

How many cameras do I need?

Most homes start with a video doorbell at the front door and a floodlight cam over the driveway or back door. We’ll walk the property with you and suggest coverage based on entrances and approach paths.
